Sight Gauge

Help picking out sights for 20 gauge?

I need some new sights for my 20 gauge remington 870. I looked at a few but none stuck out to me i primarily deer hunt so if you could link me to a nice pair of sights for a rifled barrel that would be great.

  1. plenty of shotgun-specific scopes available, all would be better than open sights. depends on your budget, you get what you pay for with optics, and brand names matter. i have found ALPEN scopes to be reasonable priced decent quality, and for slug hunting, would recommend a 3-9 X 40 or something close to it.
  2. iron sights?? I have this on my 870 pump. I don't hunt with a shotgun, but this sight is rugged and accurate. In addition, Midway has two pages of iron sights for the 870 Remington. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=495480 Optic sight?? Again, Midway has three pages of shotgun scopes to pick from. http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=10&categoryId=11393&categoryString=657*** Red dot sights/ Midway has a whopping 13 pages to pick from. http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=10&categoryId=11757&categoryString=657***7276***
  3. I am an open sight guy so I use Fire Sights on my Rem 870 Super Mag Combo. Killed alot of deer with it. Collects light and amplifies it in lower light situations. It doesn't get lost in the snow when I swing on a running deer. Front sights for regular iron sights are usually white or black, both get lost in the dirt or trees. My buddies use red dot low power scopes. There is merit there except they chew up batteries fast. http://www.williamsgunsight.com/gunsights/shotgun.htm
