Why does the oil gauge on my Ford Explorer bounce up and down?
The oil gauge goes all the way down then flickers for 2-4 seconds then goes back to the normal level in the middle. While this is going on the gas light also lights up, the gas light turns off when the oil gauge goes back to the middle. Does anyone know what the problem is and what the price would be for a fix? Thanks

- sounds like maybe you have a leakage of oil or oil pressure, just take it to the shop and ask them to check your oil filter and crankcase. most gauges move a little while driving because oil is circulating through engine but if the gauge is all the way down, then you do have a problem. when's the last time you had your oil changed? if your past the 3000 miles since the last oil change then maybe your car is simply burning up oil like mine does. The best thing to do is just take it to a local auto shop and ask them to look at it. it shouldn't be expensive. places like meineke do a free visual inspection and can tell you up front what is up. hope i could help, best of luck.
- Please check wire connection of oil gauge and low gas level behind the indicator, a loosen and or short is happen.
