How can I fix the 1992 nissan sentra gas tank gauge?

I brought my 1992 nissan sentra to a mechanic to have the fuel pump fixed but as soon as the fuel pump was fixed,I went to the gas station to fill up gas and I noticed that the dashboard gas indicator is not working.I assumed that the mechanic might have done something in my gas tank that affected the gas level gauge,How can I fix the problem?

1. This is an in-tank fuel pump. The same assembly contains the fuel float sending unit. You assumed correctly that the mechanic did something or installed a defective unit. You need to take it back and have him correct it.
