Sight Gauge

Will a PSI gauge for a tank be accurate if it is not directly connected?

If I attached a PSI gauge to measure the pressure of an air tank to a tube or a solid pipe that was a couple of feet long or so, and then attached the other end of that tube or pipe to an air tank, would the reading still be fairly accurate?

  1. Yes the pressure will equalize in the tube and will be the same as the tank.
  2. Absolutely. GuitarGeorge is correct.
  3. It will be just as accurate as if it was attached to the tank.
  4. Agree with all the others provided your solid pipe is not of huge volume, that would make it read low. GL>
  5. Yes, as long as there are no leaks in that connection. The size of the tube or pipe makes no difference.
