Are guns allowed on military bases?

I am going to join the US Marine Corps and i was wondering if while on base is the barracks i was allowed to keep my own personal guns. And if i was allowed to keep them on me. If it matters i have a Kar 98, AK 47, Saiga 12 gauge, Lee Enfield. a m1911, and a S&W 500 magnum.

  1. Ironically no, few guns are allowed while walking on a military base. Remember Fort Hood? Took them damn forever to actually get a weapon to defend themselves.
  2. No, you can't keep them in your barracks. You'll have to store them in the armory or find a friend to hold them.
  3. Some yes- depending on state laws you can have your own; however, you cannot have ammunition, which defeats the purpose of having one. In barracks, you cannot have ANY weapons. Once you move into housing you may be able to.
  4. I don't know how the Marines do it, but if you are living in the barracks/dorms and you own a firearm you are required to store it at the base armory. Firearms are prohibited in the barracks/dorms.
  5. When I was in, which was very recent. Depending on who you are, what your classification was determined greatly. What determines this as well is what your CO allows. Rules are for the general population in these matters, but it matters who who know as well. In most cases NO, if this is your first go around. You will have to keep them at home and not used in active duty. Again it all depends on who you know.
  6. HECH NO, We shoot water pistols
  7. Yes they are but you can't carry them around like John Wayne, they must be accounted for and locked in the Armory at your designated unit of assignment. Some of your guns you mentioned are quite dangerous in the wrong hands and might not be allowed. Check with your First shirt before you bring any personal weapons to your duty station
  8. Nope. I remember I was in the PX at Ft. Benning once and I was sitting at a table eating when someone stopped next to me. He was looking straight forwards, not paying attention to me, but I immediately realized something wasn't quite right about him. For one, he was wearing his headgear in doors, and then he had this weird black sash across his chest. I followed the sash down and I almost shit myself when I saw it was actually a pistol belt. Then I realized he was an MP. My bad.
  9. Simple answers: NO. You're not gonna bring those guns to the barracks. People get drunk at the barracks. And that would just get really ugly if you throw your "little" collection in the mix.
  10. You store then in the base armory and check them in and out as you need them. BTW, did you know AK47's are made and sold by the Red Army in China ?
  11. If you are married and live in base housing, some (not all) bases will allow you to keep Personally Owned Weapons in your on base residence. If you are a single servicemember, living in the barracks, then there is not one base on the planet that will allow you to have guns in your barracks room. If you bring your weapons to your post, they will be locked in the arms room, and only taken out with the proper forms. Also, other than official duty, open carry and concealed carry is illegal on ALL federal installations. Also banned are large knives, blow guns, air guns, paintball guns, airsoft guns, bows and arrows, swords and a whole laundry list of other things.
  12. For more privacy, if you live in the barracks get a storage unit and store them in their.
