Just changed the oil and my oil gauge is reading very high.?
I just had my oil changed in my 1995 Jeep Cherokee and they talked me into thinsetec oil. Now when I step hard on the gas my oil gauge jumps past its highest rating which is 80. Before my gauge would jump to 3/4 when I hit the gas, but now it really goes high. I was wondering if its a bad gauge or crappy oil.

- cold starts normally do that.
- maybe you have a little to much oil when your car is hot, turn it off and check it again if its right on your dip stick then you will know its the oil
- oil level will not effect pressure until it is too low. if you are using a thicker oil, that might do it. a stuck pressure relief valve would too.
- So - what is thinsetec? Never heard of it? What weight? Sounds as though it is too high viscosity for 1995 Jeep?
- weight of the oil could do this also if the old oil was really old it could have thined out thus giving a lower ppressure. also whats really high 30 psi 40psi 80psi.... when your engine reaches operating temp i would thing 30psi would be healthy at idle just as long as you have more then 5 or 10
