Sight Gauge

20 gauge to .357/.38 adapter?

ok, so i was on shotgunadapter.com and i saw an adapter that you can use in a 20 gauge shotgun to make it shoot .357/.38spc bullets in it. they are only $15 and im thinking about getting one because im getting a little bored with my nef single shot since i got a maverick 88 security. on there site, they say that one of these rifle or pistol caliber adapters might not be as accurate as a handgun or rifle because most shotguns only have a bead sight, would they be to inaccurate to hunt with if i needed to? would you still be able to make a good clean shot on an animal at a reasonable range with one of these .357/.38 adapters? also, what could you hunt with a .357? like i said before, i might get one because it would be cheaper than buying a whole new gun in .357 because i dont use my 20 guage anymore. thanks.

  1. rifle or pistol rounds wouldn't be accurate because theres no rifling in the shotgun barrel if there is rifling ex. slug barrel it still wouldn't be tight enough to put a spin on the bullet. However one of those would be cool to play with.
  2. Sell your 20 Gauge, buy a .357 carbine. You'll be better off doing that than risking it by using some sketchy websites "adapter" as you put it.
  3. I seriously doubt that you could expect much in the way of accuracy from such a device. You yourself said that the website stated it may not be as accurate as a pistol. Why would anyone want a long arm that's less accurate than a pistol? That doesn't make much sense. I like to hit what I shoot at... and I can screw up enough all by myself that I have no need to spend money on a cheap contraption that will help me screw up. Following me? Buy a real .38 or .357. You think you're bored now... buy that garbage and you'll be bored to tears real soon.
