Sight Gauge

Mossberg 500 12 gauge not shooting straight.?

My Mossberg isnt shooting worth a damn this year. I took it out to sight in for the deer opener this year.I had two targets set up next to each other. I was aiming at the left target and hitting the right one just on the edge of the paper. Shooting from 50 yards with Remington and Winchester 1 oz. rifled slugs. I adjusted the rear sight to compensate but that wasnt working. I did, however, shoot Remington Reduced Recoil through my smooth bore slug barrel before and it shot almost dead on. Any suggestions or did I answer my own question? Thanks in advance and good luck to all deer hunters. Travvis- Sorry guys and gals, I guess I didnt mention that I was using the smooth bore the whole time. That was my bad. I used the smooth bore with the rifled slugs, and the reduced recoil rifled slugs.

  1. Use the smooth bore until you can figure out the problem.
  2. umm use the smoothbore barrel that was shooting dead on or get a scope mounted i have a smoothbore field gun that i use for rifled slugs for deer and it shoots right so a scope did the job for me in your case i would say use the smoothbore that was shooting dead on with the ammo that was dead on
  3. Use the rounds that hit the target. Are you also using a rifled barrel? You didn't mention the smoothbore until towards the end of your question, so I thought you might be using a different barrel for the rifled slugs. If so, you need to use sabot slugs for the rifled barrel. If I am misreading your question, nevermind.
