How can I fix the 1992 nissan sentra gas tank gauge? I brought my 1992 nissan sentra to a mechanic to have the fuel pump fixed but as soon as the fuel pump was fixed,I went to the gas station to fill up gas and I noticed that the dashboard gas indicator is not working.I assumed that the mechanic might have done something in my gas tank that affected the gas level gauge,How can I fix the problem?
How can I find out which way the fuel tank gauge float is supposed to face, I had to replace the fuel? pump helping my mechcanic , he took off the fuel guage I wasn't watching him ,now thats it's back on , I have about 6-7 gallons left when the dash gauge is shows almost empty . how does the gas tank gas gauge gas pressure work? gas gauge says half full, car stalls like its empty. go to gas station, pump until it stops on its own, and its always about 8 gallons or so, which is in fact half the tank. is it possible that the tank really is empty when the gauge says half and the gas pump still stop on its own when i fill up?
How can I adjust the fuel gauge on an oil tank? The fuel gauge for my oil tank, a Granby, is off by about 1/4 of a tank. Everytime the oil company comes to fill it, the gauge stops at a little over 3/4 of a tank; and, yes, I can do the math and realize that when it's near "E", there's really only 1/4 tank left of oil. BUT, I still want to adjust it. Is this something I can do myself, and if so how, or should I just have the oil company do it? Oh, the guage is on top of the tank. It's a glass tube with a disc attached to the top of a tiny rod inside that gradually lowers as the oil is depleted.
Fuel Gauge Fluctuating when Tank is Full? Isuzu Ascender 2006 - Noticed problems with fuel gauge fluctuating from empty to full, then back again, even after I filled tank, sometimes it stick on empty (w/ light). Also noticed “check engine light” came on. Sounds like fuel sender is stuck or inoperable. Does this mean I need a new fuel pump, or can I just replace the fuel sender or sensor?

How much fuel is left in the tank when the fuel gauge blinks empty? I'm using a Mitsubishi Lancer GLS and sometimes I don't have the time to pass by a gas station before my gauge hits the last line. I've always wondered how far can I still go on a blinking fuel gauge. Sky Pilot, I spend 12 hrs infront of the computer daily due to my kind of work so I have more time to ask this question than go to the gas station. Thanks for the info.

We have a new 250 gal. propane tank. The gauge went from 30% to 90%. How could this have happened? The tank is serviced by a propane company. When we moved in this summer, it started at 50%, and over the past few months has steadily decreased to 30%(I check it every few days) When I checked it yesterday, it was suddenly at 90%! Can gauges(new ones) go off that much, or did the company mistakenly fill our tank? Or something else? I am new to the propane world, so I have no idea....thanks!
What causes a fuel gauge to read 1/4 tank when its full? I have a 1990 chevy 2500 truck. I put a brand new sending unit in the tank, when i pulled the tank i turned key on and it read full tank with wires "off" the sender. I put it back together with all new float sender and all. It still reads 1/4 tank. What will cause this?
1996 chevy blazer fuel gauge at half a tank and car stalls like its out of gas ? First the fuel pump needed to be replaced, then the water pump went out, car overheated once and the transfluid was a little low, ran the darn car out of gas one time, changed the fuel filter but now when the gauge is a half it stalls like its out of gas, when i come off the freeway and slow down to fast it stalls, it is hard to start ? could it be a a fuel injector or something else please help ! replaced the fuel pump less then a year ago.
Fuel tank gauge problem? I have an F-250 ford diesel truck with 2 fuel tanks. When I switch form either Forward tank or Rear tank the gauge reads over full. When the tank is empty the gauge reads at full. I have pulled the Forward tank down and checked the wiring it looks good. All the fuses are good and the wiring as far as I can see looks good no evidence of shorts. What could cause this it is common to both Forward and Rear tank. So probably not sending unit. Thanks for your help. Pete
Fuel gauge shows empty even though tank is full on Peugeot 707? Hi, I let my car run lower on fuel than normal, and after I filled up my fuel gauge shows as empty and doesn't move. When I switch on the ignition the gauge moves a mm or so but still displays empty. I have heard people mention a sender unit but not sure how easy that is to fix! Or if its best taken to a garage. Any ideas?
I have a home heating oil tank and you can smell fumes from the oil gauge - how unsafe is it? I plan on replacing the tank and the furnace this spring. There is no oil leaking but I believe the fuel oil guage is damaged as there is tin foil holding it in place. You can smell the fumes as soon as you approach the oil tank. I have 2 small children and want to know if this is affecting any of our healths and if so am I able to call my insurance company to have this problem rectified. Thanks in advance.
Petrol Tank Gauge Acting Up? Hi, Petrol Gauge on my 2000 2.7T Audi Allroad is gone strange. When I fill up the tank it shows that it's completely empty but after about 20 miles it's showing that it's full and it stays like that for about 150 miles. After that it starts jumping up and down. I have to keep writing the mileage in order not to run out of petrol cause I can't rely on the gauge. Any ideas? Thanks Alem
how do i fix the gas tank gauge? i was given a 85 ford ranger with alot of problems i was wondering how do i fix that and whats it mean when the carberatour butterfly doesnt go down it stays up thanks
Gas tank gauge went haywire when gas tank was replaced? Ever since the gas tank on my 96 Ford Ranger was replaced with a used gas tank, the gas gauge has been inaccurate. I've noticed the dial drifts up and down when it gets to about half a tank full. The other day I ran out of gas on the highway with the dial slightly over quarter tank. The tow truck driver said that it's probably a used tank from different kind of Ranger so the sensor needs adjusting OR the small floatation sensor inside the tank is messed up. I'm taking it in next week back to the place that installed the tank.
Gas tank gauge goes from 1/4 full at night, to 1/2 full in the morning? My two sisters who live at my parents house have been fighting for over a year. Both doing things to each other and each other's property. The 20-year-old has stopped retaliating and just let it go. Whereas the 28-year-old still living at home continues to carry it on. The 28-year-old (to name a few things) has thrown garbage at her out of nowhere, keyed the other's car, constantly screams at her (saying the 20-year-old looks like she gained 50 pounds even though she's actually lost 10, and that the pop cans in the trash are the 20-year-olds even though she can't drink pop due to heart problems right now), and stealing her extra key to her room and car and destroying her property inside. Now the 20 year old is convinced the older one did something to her gas tank, like put sugar in it or something, because she had 1/4 of a tank of gas last night, and it was 1/2 full this morning (she has a digital gauge, btw). I tried searching on Yahoo about this, but haven't found anything yet. Do you have any idea why her gas tank would go from 1/4 tank last night to 1/2 tank in the morning, without going anywhere or anyone putting fuel in it. The 20-year-old recently took her car into the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it (since she was recently having other problems, too). So it can't be anything wrong with the car since it was just checked out mid-last week. But do you know what it could be? Thanks. Btw- this isn't an old car. It's a new lease that she got less than 2 years ago. And the gauge is going down an entire 1/4 tank and not going back up once she is driving again. This is what happens when I try to keep questions short: confusion! Ok, let's try this again: Last night, her tank was 1/4 full at night. She turned off her car and had not gone anywhere. This morning, she turned it on to go to work and she had 1/2 tank. Not moving or anything, still staying in the driveway, parked. While driving now, and since leaving at 7, the tank still says 1/2 tank. It would be different if it were just 1 bar, but it changed from 1/4 tank to 1/2 tank and is still staying at 1/2 tank even after a bunch of driving. (hopefully that clarifies it because I am not posting anymore updates because this is getting long!)
How can I remove the fuel oil tank gauge on my oil tank? I recently purchased a new oil level gauge for my home heating oil tank. I briefly tried using a pipe wrench to remove the oil gauge without any success. I used penetrating oil a few hours before and it didn't seem to help. Does anybody have any tricks I can try or do I have to use some extra leverage? Here is an example of the gauge I have: http://heating-and-cooling.hardwarestore.com/97-581-oil-furnace-parts/ventalarm-signal-and-tank-gauge-167502.aspx?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=167502&utm_campaign=googlebase The bottom of the fill gauge is threaded into the 2" hole on the tank. From what I have read, there are 1.25" and 2" variations.
Fat Bob Gas Tank Gauge? Do they make a gas gauge for fat bob gas tanks with aircraft type flush caps? (not screw type caps). Thanks 1999 Night Train Fat Bob Tanks Currently No Gauge
Leaking fuel tank and gauge? This is on a 50 year old gasoline powered tractor. The gas tank is right in front of the steering wheel. The fuel gauge is mechanical, and it's not working. It bolts onto a 2" hole at the top side of the gas tank. I took off the gauge, and the cork gasket more or less crumbled apart. Now, when the tank is half full, the gas sloshes around and comes out of the crack between the gauge and the tank. What's a good kind of sealant to put between the gauge and tank that is impervious to contact with gas?
