Oil Gauge ?? i have a 1990 Dodge Omni with the 4 cyl 2.2L motor auto trans with AC and i wanted to know how do you go about puting in a OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IN that kind of car i looked in the repair book but it don't have nuthing listed on it please KELP!!
What would cause the oil pressure gauge to max out? My GF has a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the pressure gauge maxed out, and she said smoke started coming from the hood. I haven't wanted to start it and risk causing further damage until i know what's wrong. There is oil in the vehicle, and i turned the key enough for gauges to work and it the oil gauge goes to max.
How do I put an oil pressure gauge in my truck? I asked a questions before about my oil pressure, but before I do anything I want to make sure it's not just my gauge. On autoparts stores websites they sell oil gauges, I guess they could do on top of your dash. I don't know how to put this in my truck. What do I need? How involved is the job? I'm probably more than capable of doing this, I just never have before. I have an 87 ford ranger with a 2.9liter by the way.
What does full pressure on the oil gauge mean? My car was really slow to start and when I began to drive my oil pressure gauge showed full pressure, it was all the way to the right. When I accelerate the pressure goes to full, but when I am at idle it drops into normal range. I checked my oil and the level is normal. What could the problem be?
Why does the oil gauge on my Ford Explorer bounce up and down? The oil gauge goes all the way down then flickers for 2-4 seconds then goes back to the normal level in the middle. While this is going on the gas light also lights up, the gas light turns off when the oil gauge goes back to the middle. Does anyone know what the problem is and what the price would be for a fix? Thanks
Why is my oil pressure gauge going crazy? I have a 1999 dodge ram truck. I noticed today the oil gauge is jumping all over the place. It goes below 40 when im idling and then goes up when I accelerate, then goes down again and keeps jumping back and forth when im driving. It gets very close to the upper line but not touching it. I did check and I have oil. Can somebody help please?
Question about installing after market oil gauge? I have a 96 eclipse. I just ordered a volt meter and oil pressure gauge and I wanted to get it installed tomorrow. But my vat only has a stupid idiot warning light so when installing the oil pressure gauge am I gonna need and thing extra besides what come with the gauges kit?
Oil Gauge reading changes while driving my MERC? My 95 Mercedes E320 oil gauge changes changes and goes down to almost 1 whenever I use my car brakes. Otherwise in is normal. Could this be a sign of an electrical problem? The wiring harness has never been changed. What do think could be the problem?
Just changed the oil and my oil gauge is reading very high.? I just had my oil changed in my 1995 Jeep Cherokee and they talked me into thinsetec oil. Now when I step hard on the gas my oil gauge jumps past its highest rating which is 80. Before my gauge would jump to 3/4 when I hit the gas, but now it really goes high. I was wondering if its a bad gauge or crappy oil.
Why is my oil gauge fluttering? Ive got a '98 F-150. After I drive it for 20 minutes or so, when I come to a light and idle, the oil pressure gauge starts to flutter and jump up and down. Its not going from high to low, but just jumping around a bit. Any ideas?
Why would my oil gauge be flickering? I have a ford explorer 2003 truck, I recently had my alternator replaced and when we got it back my engine was making a rattling noise and my oil gauge now permanently flickers...we changed the oil just a few days ago and it's still doing it. Also the noise settles down after driving about 5 minutes down the road. What could be causing this problem?
I have a home heating oil tank and you can smell fumes from the oil gauge - how unsafe is it? I plan on replacing the tank and the furnace this spring. There is no oil leaking but I believe the fuel oil guage is damaged as there is tin foil holding it in place. You can smell the fumes as soon as you approach the oil tank. I have 2 small children and want to know if this is affecting any of our healths and if so am I able to call my insurance company to have this problem rectified. Thanks in advance.
How does an oil temp gauge work? I'm trying to instal a digital oil temp gauge on my bug but the sender unit that is supplied requires drilling. VDO makes two types of sender units for my car but I don't know if they will work with the gauge I'm thinking about buying. My question is do all sending units work the same that maybe I can cut the wires and switch them? I really like the digital look, it's like new verse old. Please hep!!!
Why is my oil gauge reading so high? When I start my car, the oil psi reading is at 120 and then when I hit the gas slightly it goes all the way to end? the gauge only goes to 120, and when Im driving the gauge reads way past 120. Anyone know it is like this and how I fix it? Or any potential problems? There is a SMALL oil leak that has been there for a while. But the oil doesn't drip not now not ever. THe oil pan is a little wet with oil but the oil has NEVER hit the ground. This just started happening recently.
1999 Cherokee Classic oil pressure gauge started showing high pressure but no check light and still runs good? Car has under 100,000 miles and has been well maintained with the oil being changed every 3,000 miles. This problem started suddenly on one cold morning (the car is not garaged). Instead of peaking at the normal gauge position near the center, the pressure started as it usually does, but continued to climb and maxed-out on the gauge. No check engine light or other indications. After allowing the engine to cool and checking the oil level, restarted with the same indications -- pressure built as it should, then maxed-out on the gauge. Suspect either a faulty sensor or gauge. How do I check the sensor with a voltmeter and where is the sensor located?
my 97 tahoe oil gauge moves up and down? the oil gauge moves up when i accelerate and drops when i idle. what could dat be and how can i fix? i just did oil change last weekend because i thought dat was it.
Oil pressure gauge reads high all the time? I have a 77 t/a with 400 6.6 litre engine. My oil pressure gauge, when ignition is off reads 80 psi. When I turn the ignition on it reads as far as it can go high. I've never seen it go below 80 psi. It has a new sending unit and it makes no difference whether the sending unit wire is on or off the unit. What could the problem be?
What causes oil pressure gauge to go down besides low oil? In question is my 1991 Ford Explorer. The oil pressure gauge, in the two years I've owned the car, has never gone more than 1/8 into the "normal" range (in fact, I don't recall noticing it move at all before we had some non-related repairs made, maybe that made me more aware?). However, when I was driving it home two nights ago on the freeway, it dropped down to the red zone. I checked the oil level, which was a bit low, so I had an oil change done (which I was due for by months, but not by miles). The reading is only slightly above what it was before, and still dips into the red zone when I accelerate. I checked the oil level just in case they did something funny at Jiffy Lube, but the level is fine now. What else could my problem be?
Why is my car's oil temperature gauge below 140 degrees? I have a 2004 Chevrolet Impala with a V6 engine. I just had the oil changed a few weeks back but this was going on before that. When I start my car and drive for the first few minutes the oil temperature gauge is below the 140 mark and looks to be "dead". After a little driving the oil temp goes up to about 180 and stays around there. Why is this happening?
Oil pressure gauge stays on L for 5 minutes? When I start my truck, the oil pressure gauge stays on L for like 5 minutes. I will drive it and after maybe 5 miles or less, it will kick up to the normal spot of the halfway point. I was wondering what would cause this and ifs a big deal. It does this more so when its cold. This vehicle is a 2000 Ford Explorer Limited Edition.
Hydraulic hose for an oil pressure gauge? I have some hydraulic hose (3000psi R17 SAE1000) and was wondering what kind of heat it will take? I know brake hoses (hydraulic line) can see 300+ degrees. I just wanted to get a second opinion about using this hose for a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I have read around and seen it can handle 212F+ and 250+ but I never found a correct answer.
Why does my 2000 Ford Ranger oil pressure gauge jump? I have noticed recently that the oil pressure gauge in my truck drops to zero then jumps back to normal when I accelerate from a complete stop. It's only for a split-second. If I accelerate any other time it's fine even from a near stop. What gives? Turns out that it was low on oil. I'd feel pretty silly but my hubby thought that maybe the filter was clogged.
having problems with the oil pressure gauge in 2000 prelude? i had it connected through the oil sending unit through the oil filter adapter that i bought specifically for the car ,,, 1st it's still leaking oil while didn't have the problem prior to installing that adapter... 2nd when i first connected it , it was working fine then the gauge started fluctuating and stoped working only while the car is idle (without hitting the gas),, but when step on the gas the gauge pressure goes to normal and starts working fine .. and i think that happens when the car has been running for a while after heating up ...
How can I adjust the fuel gauge on an oil tank? The fuel gauge for my oil tank, a Granby, is off by about 1/4 of a tank. Everytime the oil company comes to fill it, the gauge stops at a little over 3/4 of a tank; and, yes, I can do the math and realize that when it's near "E", there's really only 1/4 tank left of oil. BUT, I still want to adjust it. Is this something I can do myself, and if so how, or should I just have the oil company do it? Oh, the guage is on top of the tank. It's a glass tube with a disc attached to the top of a tiny rod inside that gradually lowers as the oil is depleted.
Should my oil pressure gauge be moving? 2001 Dodge Durango 4.7L SLT. When increasing acceleration the oil pressure gauge moves to the high side and when letting off of the gas moves to the low side. Is this normal?
