Adjust Sight on 12 Gauge Benelli Nova Shotgun? When I throw my gun up to my shoulder I always seem to aim a little high. I have heard you can adjust that somehow by shimming the stock or something. Is that possible? I am new to guns so I don't know very much yet. I basically want the barrel to be a little lower when I throw my gun up so everything is lined up. Can I unscrewed the front sight bead on my 870 shotgun? I have a remington 870 20 gauge magnum with 26" barrel. Does anyone make a plain (no vented rib) 18.5" - 20" barrel with bead sights for a 20 gauge Mossberg 500? I recently bought a used Mossberg 500 20 gauge with a 26" barrel. The price was right so I figured I'd pick it up for a home defense shotgun for a friend of mine, the only problem being the 26" barrel. I have been looking for hours trying to find someone... anyone who makes a plain barrel with a bead sight in either an 18.5" or 20" length, and have had no luck whatsoever. I'm debating cutting it, but have heard that once you cut a barrel on any gun, it needs "recrowned," and I don't know how to do that. If anyone could help me out I would sure appreciate it!! Thanks.

A good shotgun sight? Anybody with a mossberg 500 12 gauge? I have never been hunting before and I am 14. I'm about to get a mossberg 500 12 gauge dual comb combo. I am pretty big and strong so I'm not really concerned about recoil. I will be hunting deer with a 24" rifled barrel and probably iron sights. Any advice in general? What kind of sabots should I use? Just anything that I should know about the gun?

20 gauge slug or .243 for hunting tomorrow? I have 25 acres of pretty thick woods. I scouted and found a large scrape with 3 rubs within 15 yards. I have decided to hunt from a dry creek bed within view of the rubs. My question is what gun to use? I have a Rossi Trifecta that has a 20 gauge barrel (22" with bead sight) and a .243 barrel (22" w/ open sights/fiber optic). I have 2 and 3/4 inch 5/8oz rifled slugs or 100gr federal .243 rounds. The longest shot I will have on a dear is about 45 to 55 yards. Also, is it ok to use a 2 and 3/4 slug if the barrel is rated for 3"? I shoot 2 and 3/4 bird shot, but am just confused as to how if the round does not come the full 3" to the barrel, how does it not hit the edge of the inside of the barrel?

Can I turkey hunt with a modified choke successfully? I have a winchester 1300 12 gauge with a built in modified choke. I have it mossy oak obbsesion camo on it, and a tasco mount with a 2x tru glo red dot sight. I am going to be using a 3" #6 shot magnum shell, will it be able to put it down with just a modified choke?

Can you shoot a slug out of a fixed modified choke? I have a 12 gauge winchester ranger 120. Im not sure what year. There is no place to put a choke in it. Also on the side of the barrel it says MOD so I am assuming it is a fixed modified choke. I was wondering if I could shoot slugs out of this gun. Also how many of you use slugs, I usually stick with rifles. Could you hit anything with a slug if you had a basic 2 bead sight on your gun?

How do I sight in my in my shotgun barrel Rear Sight (NOT slug barrel)? I know you dont sight in shotguns thats obvious but my shotguns patterning is horrible. It shoots 6 inches high at 20 yds and a little high at 10 yds Theres a screw on top of the rear turkey sight but it wont turn clockwise anymore to adjust it more. I dont want to compensate 6 inches it may be more actually thats estimate. I have a Mossberg 535 12 gauge shooting "3" mags. My uncle moved the sight farther back the rib barrel, he thinks it will make it lower the pattern since its farther from the front sight. I havent shot it yet since its been moved tho. My uncle just died and I got hands on an old shotgun...any idea what gauge it is...? I doubt its a12 gauge...least I doubt it...it hs almost an 1inch wide (circular mind ya) barrel...no sight on barrel looks old forged...(hand made barrel)...but the hammer operates fine i dry fired it once just to be sure it seemed to work...

20 gauge to .357/.38 adapter? ok, so i was on shotgunadapter.com and i saw an adapter that you can use in a 20 gauge shotgun to make it shoot .357/.38spc bullets in it. they are only $15 and im thinking about getting one because im getting a little bored with my nef single shot since i got a maverick 88 security. on there site, they say that one of these rifle or pistol caliber adapters might not be as accurate as a handgun or rifle because most shotguns only have a bead sight, would they be to inaccurate to hunt with if i needed to? would you still be able to make a good clean shot on an animal at a reasonable range with one of these .357/.38 adapters? also, what could you hunt with a .357? like i said before, i might get one because it would be cheaper than buying a whole new gun in .357 because i dont use my 20 guage anymore. thanks.

What is my 10 gauge double barrel shotgun worth? I have a side by side double barrel 10 gauge shotgun that I purchased new in 1975. It says on it....Made For Parker in Marixa Eibar Spain. I used it quite a bit years ago for goose hunting and painted it with a flat camo paint that should come off easily. It's been well cared for. 9mm sight seems to be off? hi i finally was able to fire my Ruger 9mm P95 last night. i bought it new, but did not fire it for about 6 months. now, i have never been a great pistol shot, in fact i hadn't shot one ion about 6 or 7 years, though i do own a 12 gauge, and a Remington 770, and have plenty of experience on M16s... but i couldn't hit worth a damn on the range last night....all my shots seemed to hit to the right of where i aimed... i was shooting a target of a bad guy holding a gun to a chick's head....i killed the hostage every time before i ever hit the bad guy....and i failed to get one single head shot off.....the target was set at minimal distance, may be 25 feet or so..... my aim got a little better, when i compensated, and pointed my weapon a few inches left of my target am i just a bad shot? is there a way i can zero in my 9mm, or adjust my sights? also, i went through a box of my own ammo without incident, but had to buy a box from the range...they told me they were "factory" rounds....i didn't know what that meant, so i bought them...i went through the whole box, but my weapon jammed up repeatedly, and had to be recocked in between almost every shot is this a crappy weapon, .......did i get ripped off on my ruger 9mm purchase?

I've been having some problems with my gauge. Can anyone help? ? I am gauging my ear and I have found that when I use my tapers with the o rings, my ear gets really icky. It gets puffy and gooey and crusty and it's just not a pretty sight. This only happens when I use o rings, though. If I have a silicone tunnel in my ear is perfectly happy. I clean my ear twice a day with antiseptic specifically for piercings. Is there anything I could do or use to get it to stop getting so icky? I'm wanting to go up to a 2 or 0 and I'm at a 4 now. This started happening just a bit after I guaged to a 6. I'm not sure what's causing it to happen and I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to make it go away. If anyone could give me some advise it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance. :)

Can I shoot a slug out of a full choke barrel? I have a single shot, single action, 12 Gauge mag (3 1/2") chamber, full choke (fixed), smooth bore, and has a 24" barrel with a single bead sight. Is A 20 Gauge Shotgun loaded with #2 Buckshot Enough for Wild Pig? I'm going out for a California hog hunting trip in a few weeks and I have a friend who wants to come with me. Unfortunately I only have one big bore rifle. But, I do have a 20 gauge shotgun and I just bought some Federal Vital-Shok #2 Buck. I think it will be enough, am I correct? If it is enough, within what range can one reasonably expect to take down a piggy? 50 yards? I also have some Winchester Rifled Slugs, which I'm sure would work like a charm, but my shotgun does not have proper sights for slugs yet. I have no experience hunting big game with a shotgun, so clue me in, so I can clue him in.

Mossberg 500 12 gauge not shooting straight.? My Mossberg isnt shooting worth a damn this year. I took it out to sight in for the deer opener this year.I had two targets set up next to each other. I was aiming at the left target and hitting the right one just on the edge of the paper. Shooting from 50 yards with Remington and Winchester 1 oz. rifled slugs. I adjusted the rear sight to compensate but that wasnt working. I did, however, shoot Remington Reduced Recoil through my smooth bore slug barrel before and it shot almost dead on. I used the smooth bore with the rifled slugs, and the reduced recoil rifled slugs.

20 gauge magazine extension? OK so I've been looking for ways to increase my magazine capacity other than just removing the plug. no, I'm not some thugged out criminal. I'm just an ol country boy lookin to pimp out my gun and give my friends something to talk about and also, I hate when I'm squirrel hunting, shoot my last bullet in my gun, and miss, having to reload in the middle of it all. ok so I've seen videos of people with drum clips, but I nor anyone else knows of one for my remington 1100. I found a site selling magazine extensions. I'm interested in an 8 shell extension. 1st off, is this illegal? I'm aware of the migrating birds law or whatever of only being able to have 3 rounds in the gun, but as far as I know, deer and squirrel have no limit. anyone able to verify this? I'm also considering a laser sight, just for the hell of it. is this illegal? I'm in louisiana btw. also, its a semi-automatic. would the magazine extension work with that? kidwith12gauge: says who? theres a whole industry behind it that begs to differ. Where in central texas could I buy a Saiga 12 Gauge Shotgun? I live in Central Texas (north of Waco), and I have been looking for a NEW Saiga 12 Gauge Shotgun. I also would like to get it customized. How will elevation effect shooting? I am a hunter of deer and small game. I prefer to hunt at ground level however often sit i tree stands as much as 30 feet up. I just want to know how this change in elevation compared to my quarry will effect my point of impact. Note that i am using a 12 gauge shot gun for deer and a .22 rifle for small game. Both are sighted in at ground level.

How to saw off a 12 gauge pump? Okay, so I own a Stevens model 70 something (sorry I can't remember what exact number, I'd look but it's at a friend's house currently) I bought it for around 200. I use it for hunting but now that I have my Mossberg 500 I decided to do something with that old gun and turn it into a sawed off. I never sawed off a shotgun before but if any of you have any pointers let me know. Side note, I have a sight rib on it. Also, should I saw it all the way back to the loading tube? Should I saw the stock off and jury rig me a pistol grip?

What range can I expect to be accurate to with 2 3/4 12 gauge slugs? I ask because I just installed a Sightmark Reflex sight. I went to the range and when I was attempting to sight it in I found that no amount of correction were getting my shots to be more reliable. As in where the slug would hit the target was so unpredictable that I couldn't really dial it in well. As I was mostly used to shooting trap with target loads I didn't really know much about slugs and what to expect from them. I was shooting at a target only out at 30 feet, and I would say I was getting 5 inch groupings. I am also willing to except that I was simply just doing some really lousy shooting. That thing kicks like a horse with those kind of rounds in it so perhaps this is all totally on me.

who would win in a fight....a wolverine or a badger? I watch copius amounts of animal planet/pbs based wildlife shows. two of my favorite critters to watch all baked are the badger and the wolverine. They're native to the upper midwest, tho' i've never even heard of either being sighted in 30 years, so i have no gauge as to what either is really like. They're both pretty brutal when they're brawling, but i've always wondered which would win if they crossed paths and tussled.

Stretching my ears from an 8 gauge to a 6 gauge? So I started stretching my ears recently. I started with a 10 gauge. That hurt a lot getting them in. However after 2 days there was no pain so I moved up to an 8 gauge. The tapers/plugs went in easily and I didn't feel a thing. They were a tad sore after but that was all. Now its been 3 days. Again there is no pain. So I took the 6 gauge taper and slid it through. It did not go as easily as the others and there was sight pain pushing it all the way through but otherwise it was easy. My ears have not bled or anything. I don't understand this because I know you are supposed to wait like a month in between stretches but I have also read that people say everyone is different and you will know when your ears are ready. I took the 6 gauges out and put the 8s back in because I feel like I am moving to fast. Am I? Or is it okay as long as there is no bleeding/pain/difficulty stretching? Also I have heard that 8- 6 is supposed to be a difficult stretch but it is not at all for me. Seems like a good thing but I don't know. Thanks :)

Stator and generator design say for wind energy? I have seen some picture of both dual magnet and single magnet. What is the benefit of dual magnets (one on either side of the stator coils)? I have also seen stators with over lapping coils. Does this generate more electricity? Is there a specific pattern to follow to avoid coil to coil interference? best out of these guns to use for self defense/home protection??? Trying to identify antique gun barrell.? My father in law found a gun barrell out on a construction site on Ft. Sill in oklahoma. It is pitted up with little to know id markings. All I have is it has two barrells side by side, one looks about the size of a 20 gauge and the other about a .38 to .40 cal. Right hand barrell is the smaller. There are holes in the bottom of the barrels on each side for caps? Its gotta be a muzel loader because the breech doesnt open. There are also to brass, i think, bands around the breech. There is a notch ofer the smaller barrell like a sight. Also a brass tage welded inbetween the barrells underneath that has no info on it. could this be a blackpowder shotgun rifle combo?

Recommendations for what gun to use for first day of buck? alright let me first describe where im hunting the first day it is a small patch of woods with 2 houses about 200 yards away on one side a road about 175 yards away on another side and the other 2 sides are all woods i of course will have my back to the houses and road and be shooting into the woods the woods go back about 7 miles or so so there is no problem there. but the layout of the place im hunting is kind of complicated it is fairly brushy in certain areas and had a few 60-70 yard shooting lanes. i will be sitting in a tree stand but only about 5 feet off of the ground because im hunting in a revine type of setting that is not very level and i wont go higher than 5 ft (i have broken way too many bones so im not taking the chance of falling more than 5 feet) but my question now is should i use a 20 gauge ithaca feather weight with only bead sight and slugs or should i use my 30-30 with a see through scope so i can use iron sights or the scope and 150 grain silver tips? my farthest shot will be maybe 50-75 yards 75 being the max and as close as 15 yards. there is a beautiful 10 pt running around in this area and i need some recommendations on what would be a better choice for the area any help would be appreciated thanks :) @ tahoeguy- i might be getting the 37 in 12 gauge i saw one for sale for a great price last week hopefully the guy selling it still has it i mean im comfortable with the accuracy with the 20 gauge but i havent shot it over 50 yards so still not sure now im leaning twards the 30-30. would 150 gr silver tips be too much for closer ranges or not?
